A pose is just an empty vessel until you fill it with your unique essence.
It is you who brings a meaning into every shape, your own sweet expression into each pose, into each movement, each action.

How surely gravity’s law
Strong as an ocean current
takes hold of even the smallest thing
and pulls it toward the heart of the world
Every-thing
each stone, blossom, child –
is held in place.
Only we, in our arrogance
push out beyond what we each belong to
for some empty freedom
If we surrendered
to earth’s intelligence
We could rise up rooted, like trees
Instead we entangle ourselves
in knots of our own making
and struggle lonely and confused
So, like children, we begin again
to learn from the things,
because they are in god’s heart:
they have never left him
This is what the things can teach us:
to fall,
patiently to trust our heaviness.
Even a bird has to do that
before he can fly

Connectedness is our natural state.
.
Babies have all the possibilities in their neural connections
The web of potential they hold is evidenced in the infinite pathways that are there, ready to be fortified
And as they get older, the unused connections are pruned back like a rose bush in winter.
Human connection is what we’re programmed for.
Oxytocin knows the importance of eye-to-eye, skin-to-skin.
It’s only when we let our defences, stories, priorities get in the way
That we lose connection and forget that we need it like air.
There’s an epidemic of isolation
A lonely root taking hold in our society that’s making us certain we’re separate.
So let’s all take a breath of that sweet air.
Look someone in their face, ask them their name, hear someone, hold someone.
It’s vulnerable to be human.
